Hello, we are EYEMKR, located in Chico, California

My (Dylan) journey into the world of Ocularistry began in 2018 when I apprenticed in Sacramento. Prior to that, I worked as a financial advisor but found needed peace in various arts during a period of illness. Later I met my wife, Hannah, a sixth-generation Ocularist.

Together, we established EYEMKR in 2022. Outside of work, we lead busy lives as wrestling coaches, proud parents, Sunday school teachers, and martial arts enthusiasts.

At EYEMKR, we specialize in providing custom prosthetic eyes. Our offerings range from traditional hand-painted eyes to innovative designs like our unique Cool Eyes. Additionally, we've developed a D.I.Y kit that enables individuals to create their own molds from home, making the process more accessible and convenient. 

Our Kids Club program ensures children have access to quality eye care at reduced prices, addressing the unique needs of growing youngsters.

The decision to pursue Ocularistry was deeply influenced by my passion for art and a fortuitous encounter with Hannah, whose family legacy in the field spans generations. 

Inspired by her family's work, including providing prosthetic eyes for renowned figures like Helen Keller and Sammy Davis Jr., we felt compelled to continue their legacy. Our shared desire to help others through our work cemented our commitment to this field.

People with vision loss or ocular trauma often grapple with more than just physical challenges. Social acceptance, negative self-image, and intrusive curiosity from others can compound their struggles. Our Cool Eyes aim to address these issues by offering individuals the opportunity to express themselves confidently and “Own it”. 

By providing a customized alternative prosthetic eye, we help empower individuals to embrace their appearance and navigate social interactions with greater self-assurance.

Here are some tips to protect your eyes and maintain overall eye health:

    • Stay hydrated and maintain a balanced diet rich in nutrients.

    • Ensure you get enough restful sleep each night.

    • Practice good hygiene by handling your eyes and eye-related equipment with clean hands or tools.

    • Schedule regular eye exams with an Ophthalmologist.

    • Wear appropriate eye protection during activities that pose a risk of eye injury.
